Introduction of Department;


Welcome to the Department of Anatomy web site. The Anatomy Department, situated on campus, is one of the first departments to welcome students starting the Medical and Dental degree courses.

Department of Anatomical Sciences


The department of anatomical sciences includes sub departments of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology and currently consists of 10 faculty members, 4 MSc students and 6 support personnel. The faculties supervise active research programs in the general research areas of Anatomy, Embryo culture, IVF, Stereology, Electron microscopy, Histochemistery , Immuno-histochemsitery and Neural tracing


The Department of Anatomy had been formed by the integration of the departments of biology and anatomical sciences and has been offering macroscopic courses.  The Department has also trained and educated students in anatomy; and has then begun to train MSC Students in Anatomical Sciences along with numerous research projects. The department had been offering anatomy at macroscopic level; it has been offering microscopic anatomical (histology) courses, as well as courses in embryology. The department has been active in macroscopic, microscopic (histology), and embryology.




Research Lines:

The Research lines and priorities include the following:

  • Anthropometry;
  • Tissue healing;
  • Neuroscience;
  • Fertility in both in vivo and in vitro conditions;
  • Natural & unnatural tissue molecular and cellular studies; stem cells and their roles in healing the damaged cells.



The Department of Anatomy also offers PhD in Applied Cell Sconces:


Applied Cell Sciences Major seeks a leadership role in applied cell sciences as stem cell therapy (SCT) and regenerative medicine (RM) through developing innovative, multidisciplinary collaborative approaches. We will train future leaders for education, research and clinical studies using cells specially stem cells. We will recruit and retain basic and clinical scientists to advance our field of interest through support from university funds.




ACSM is taking Regenerative Medicine (RM) from bench to bedside by treating and potentially curing some of the most devastating and costly diseases in the world today as well as reducing the cost and increase the efficiency of RM-based medicine. 

ACSM’s scientific members are to recognize stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine.

As a result of studying and understanding the body's response at the molecular, cellular, tissue and whole-organ levels, researchers at the group for Applied Cell Sciences are developing innovative therapeutic interventions that will ultimately help the body repair itself. So studies will include the properties of stem cells, their differentiation into cells of defined lineage, their behavior in invitro and in vivo, and their ability to correct deficiencies and dysfunctions that underlie such conditions as Neurologic disorders, spinal cord injuries, diabetes, neuromuscular diseases Skin disorders, cardiovascular problems and other health problems.

At the end, it is clear that in order to fulfill RM’s promise to treat the many diseases affecting our population, a world-renowned group of stem cell scientists and bioengineers have come together to form the Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine



Group Research Areas and Goals:


The group's goals and research spans are as follow:


  • Serve as a training and educational center for stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.
  • Conduct basic research stem cell biology and therapy as in basic and translational stem cell research
  • Develop Regenerative medicine; especially in the field of nervous system.
  • Develop technologies for discovery and production of instruments, pharmaceutical and biological agents for use in stem cell biology and therapeutics
  • Nano biomedical based cell/tissue/organ development.
  • Innovation in artificial cells studies and Cell engineering
  • Computational stem cell modeling
  • Develop experimental models to use the stem cells to alter physiological and developmental characteristics of tissues and organ systems involved in disease processes.
  • Develop and commercialize intellectual property resulting from stem cell research and development.
  • Follow and develop guidelines, especially ethical ones to use all kinds of stem cells.
