Introduction

Office of Research in Education of the Center of Study and Development of Medical Education of SEMUMS has an effective role in the improvement of quality of education. Therefore, it cooperates with researchers to conduct required research in the field of education in order to solve the problems and determine educational needs of SEMUMS. So, it can improve the quality of education in national, local, and regional levels, produce and transfer the medical knowledge in future.

It acts as the master-mind of the Center of Study and Development of Medical Education at the university. It provides new ideas for planning and implementing educational programs.

To increase the awareness of professors about new issues of medical education, reflect their ideas, and analyze issues and problems about educational activities, it suggests titles of educational research to researchers which are determined based on the priorities of SEMUMS. Therefore, professors, assistants, students and other researchers can provide their projects in line with the educational goals of SEMUMS and by determining the priorities of titles of research in education.

Finally, it tries to expand the culture of research in education by providing the ground to access to the latest scientific information and optimizing the information system in education of medical science. Therefore, the Committee of Research in Education strives to expand the information system, research and supports educational research in education of medical science.

Also, it strives to solve the educational problems of faculties of SEMUMS by planned activities, supporting of conduction of research in education, benefiting from research results with making policies and management in different fields of research in education. Finally, it can improve the quality of education in local and regional levels, produce and transfer knowledge of medical science.

 

Goals:

Improving the quality of education and learning of medical students of SEMUMS in order to provide the best educational services and ultimately provide health services to members of the community through:

  • Striving to spread the culture of research in education among faculty members and students
  • Transforming in educational programs at the level of medical school and university based on the use of research results and new facilities of technology
  • Targeting educational research
  • Contributing to the quantitative and qualitative strengthening of educational research
  • Cooperating in guiding and conducting research in education in order to making educational decisions and increasing the quality of the educational level
  • Expanding access to books required for medical education through the development of scientific resources of the Center of Study and Development of Medical Education
  • Identifying the problems and difficulties of medical education at the level of medical school
  • Preparing a list of priorities of research in education at the faculty level based on the identified problems
  • Prioritizing the approval of research projects related to educational problems
  • Improving the process of approving research projects in education
  • Consulting with the implementers of research projects in education
  • Holding training courses in order to improve the research skills of professors, students and staff in the field of research in education
  • Announcing research results in education to review curricula and how to teach at the level of medical school
  • Increasing the quota of educational-research articles in prestigious journals
  • Increasing the participation of professors, students, researchers and communicating with the Student Research Committee about research in the field of medical education
  • Conducting student research in line with policies of promoting medical education and community health
  • Guiding and collaborating with dissertations related to medical education
  • Documenting the activities performed and the results obtained from research- educational projects at the faculty level

Responsibilities:

  • Providing necessary and useful suggestions on how to conduct research projects according to the goals and conditions of the field of research in education in SEMUMS
  • Determining the fields of research in education based on the educational needs and problems of SEMUMS and faculties
  • Developing appropriate strategies to encourage faculty members and students to submit research projects related to educational issues and problems
  • Collaborating in planning and organizing the workshops and conferences needed to encourage faculty members and students to provide appropriate and practical research projects in medical education and also reporting the research results.
  • Helping to prepare a list of research priorities in education in different educational groups
  • Checking research projects from a methodological point of view and their approval in the field of research in education
  • Consulting and assisting in designing a research project questionnaire for research in education in accordance with standard models
  • Holding joint meetings of committee members with educational groups to determine research priorities and encouraging them to conduct educational research
  • Striving and encouraging to direct student theses and residency in line with medical education
