A 52-year-old female patient who had rectal prolapse for about 10 years underwent laparoscopic ventral rectopexy surgery due to worsening pain and protrusion.

He continued: Rectal prolapse is a medical condition in which the rectum presses against the anus. In other words, rectal prolapse is a condition in which a protrusion of the rectum occurs through the anus.

He added: This surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Siavash Masoumi, general surgery specialist, anesthesia team and operating room staff for the first time with laparoscopic method in Kosar Hospital.

It should be noted: The goal of surgery is to eliminate sagging and correct anatomical and functional abnormalities.

Abdominal surgery can be performed through open or minimally invasive methods (laparoscopic or robotic).
