Splenectomy of a 1.5 kg spleen from a 16-year-old patient in Kosar Hospital

The head of Kosar Hospital stated: The 16-year-old female patient had a feeling of progressive fullness in her abdomen since about 5 years ago, and in the examinations, she was diagnosed with a large cyst of the spleen.
Dr. Ehsan Hosseinzadeh continued: The patient underwent a splenectomy by Dr. Siavash Masoumi, a general surgeon. This surgery was successfully performed with the anesthesia team supervised by Dr. Hemati, an anesthesiologist, and experienced operating room staff.
He added: "Spleen normally weighs 75 grams and a maximum of 150 grams, but the spleen in this patient had grown to more than 1.5 kilos."
